VHI Women's Mini Marathon officially cancelled due to Covid-19 pandemic

This year's VHI Women's Mini Marathon has been cancelled.

The race was initially set for May 31, but was pushed back to an undisclosed date in the autumn due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

But organisers today released a statement saying it would not be possible to stage the popular race this year.

Instead, they announced a virtual race would be held in October to help raise funds for charity.

The plans for the virtual race will be announced in the coming weeks.

Additionally, all entries for this year's race would be honoured for 2021.

"The Team at the VHI Women's Mini Marathon regret to announce the cancellation of the 2020 event," they announced.

"We look forward to welcoming you back to the start line in 2021, and plan to bring you a very exciting alternative virtual event for later in the year!"
