Commuters have been advised to avoid routes around Victory Monument on Thursday, as a ceremony will take place at the military monument to mark the annual Veterans’ Day, police said.
Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner Jirasan Kaewsaeng-ek said on Wednesday that the ceremony will be held from 6am to 1pm.
Affected routes will include Ratchawithi road (from the monument to Soi 15 of Ratchawithi), Phaya Thai road (from Phaya Thai intersection to the monument) and Soi Yothee.
The public are advised to use alternate routes, including Vibhavadi Rangsit road, the tollway, the Srirat expressway, Ratchaprarop road, Chaturathit road, Rama VI road, Soi 2 of Phaholyothin road, Soi Rangnam, Soi Sena Rak and Soi Sasana.
Pol Maj Gen Jirasan said the Metropolitan Police would like to apologise for the inconvenience.
He also urged travellers to use public transport to ease traffic on Thursday.
