Veteran reporter who sparred with Trump is departing network after 22 years

Peter Alexander NBC

Peter Alexander has announced his departure from NBC News after 22 years, including his role as co-anchor of Saturday Today.
He cited a desire to spend more time with his two daughters and achieve a better work-life balance as his reasons for leaving.
Alexander joined NBC in 2004, covering international news, sports, and serving as a White House correspondent before becoming Saturday Today's co-anchor in 2018.
His co-host, Laura Jarrett, expressed sadness at his departure, praising him as a brilliant journalist and dedicated father.
During his tenure, Alexander sparred with President Donald Trump and was labeled a “terrible reporter” by the president for grilling him over the Covid-19 pandemic and a Qatari jet.
