Veteran journalist exposes positive spin on Iraq

At least one experienced US journalist is refusing to accept the White House's continuing attempt to put a positive spin on the situation in Iraq. In the latest report filed by the veteran correspondent Tom Lasseter, for the McClatchy papers, he writes that security conditions are continuing to deteriorate in Iraq, and that many Iraqi politicians are challenging the optimistic forecasts of the governments in Baghdad and Washington. He also quotes an American intelligence officer, whose name is being withheld to protect him, who says the military leadership has "no real comprehension" of the truth. (Via Editor and Publisher)
