Vet shares her five least favourite dog breeds that she would never own

A veterinarian from the USA has shared the five dog breeds she would personally never own. Dr Whitney Terrell from Alabama took to TikTok to share her opinion, stating she made the list "just for fun".

Dogs are loyal, loving pets, but all breeds have their positive and negative traits. Some dog breeds are known to suffer from a range of chronic health problems due to their over-breeding.

Others need strict training routines to tame their energetic natures. In light of this, Dr Whitney has shared the breeds which she is not a fan of.

The vet revealed that her least favourite types of pooch to be the popular Goldendoodle - a Golden Retriever mixed with a Poodle, or any kind of 'oodle' breeds. She also shared that she wasn't a fan of short-snouted pups such as French Bulldogs, Pugs and Shih Tzus, reports Wales Online.

During the video, she also said that she believed German Shepherds shouldn't be owned without proper training. However on the other hand, she did express her love for other dog breeds such as Golden Retrievers, mixed-breed pups and Basset Hounds.

The animal doctor said that in number five she would list Chinese Crested Dogs, as she did not like the hairless animals as they were "kind of greasy". In fourth place, she listed the "ankle biters" Chihuahua breed and added they were not her "cup of tea" and that they were usually a "one person dog".

In third place, Dr Terrell listed pugs, as well as Shi Tzus and other brachycephalic breeds, in other words any dog whose muzzle looks like it has been flattened or squashed inwards. She said: "Some of them are so cute and so sweet, but they can't breathe. Literally, cannot breathe. They snore - I've already got a husband that snores, I don't want anything else".

In number two was a GSD (German Shepherd) and this also applied to the Belgian Malinois, she said: "Basically, they have the potential to be really great dogs, good police dogs, good rescue-type dogs. But 95% of the ones that we see in clinic want to bite your face off because they are not properly trained.

"I know that I wouldn't be able to properly train one because I have no time, so if you're thinking about getting one of these dogs, don't do it like me because they need a lot of training and a lot of attention, but yes would never own."

She listed the Goldendoodle breed in first position. "Some of these dogs are really sweet," she explained in the video. "But a lot of them are crazy, crazy dogs. A lot of them can't sit still for two seconds and we've had really aggressive ones. So expensive grooming... and just too high maintenance for me."
