A vet has issued a stark warning to dog owners about the dangers of leaving hair ties around your home, which could make pets seriously ill if swallowed.
In an alarming post to Facebook, Taryn Missildine shared a photo showing everything that had been removed from the stomach of a golden doodle, which included 109 hair ties in total.
She wrote: "If your puppy/dog isn’t acting like themself, get them checked out please! This is what we pulled out of a dog today!"
The dog had been brought into the vet because he wasn't "acting normal" and had stopped eating. An x-ray revealed over 100 foreign objects inside the dog who had to undergo surgery.
As well as over 100 hair ties, the vet's removed two pairs of underwear, a teddy bear ear, tail and leg, some candy wrappers and pieces of an Easter basket.
The post has now been shared over 25 thousand times, with one woman writing: "My hair ties are always missing. Never thought the dog would be a suspect!"
Another said: "This is crazy."
