South Dublin residents were shocked to learn of the news that one of the village's oldest establishments was closing down.
Pat Toolan's Bookmakers in Lucan is said to be shutting its doors after over three decades in business in the area.
The bookmakers is a family run business who have been operating in the area for 34 years.

The Lucan establishment was Toolan's first office and from there, the business expanded and soon became one of the leading independent bookmakers in the greater Dublin area.
Pat Toolan still has bookmakers in Newtown, Marino, Rathnew, Bray and Kilkenny.
Another local shop broke the news online.

Paddy's barbers in Lucan said: "It'll be a sad day on Saturday for business owners in the village as TOOLANS BOOKIES another local family run business shuts its doors after 34 years.
"It's been a center hub for lucan people whether they where old or young to meet up for a chat and a laugh and the odd flutter on the horses.
"Best of luck to Pat Toolan and all his staff, yous will be missed."

One person commented: "Ahhhh no way slowly but surely one by one closing their doors will be a very sad day for the Toolens I remember doing my pre-employment down in their grocery shop. Best of luck to the whole family. Best of luck to the staff."
