Of the many famous characters scattered around Dublin, Christy 'Juicer' Hanley was certainly one of them, so it's no surprise that a village was left shocked and saddened after news emerged of his death this week.
The Santry man and father-of-five died peacefully after a short illness on Tuesday this week in St. Anne's Ward at Beaumont Hospital.
His death broke the hearts of hundreds of people in north Dublin - most of whom would have known 'Juicer' from Kealy's pub in Cloghran.
And it was only fitting as a regular in the haunt that Kealy's were one of the first to pay tribute to the "true gentleman".
They said: "It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of our great friend Christy 'Juicer' Hanley.
"The world is a little darker as we say goodbye to a true gent and a champion of a man.
He was an absolute legend to all of us here at Kealy’s and would always stop to have a chat.
"He was like the Lord Mayor coming into the pub!."
They added: "Only 7 weeks ago we watched you sing as the room stood still and how lucky we were to have that moment.
"All our love goes out to your wife, your family and many friends. We will make sure to honour you when all this passes."
Tributes flooded in for Christy after the announcement with friends and family paying their respect.
One said: "Christy. You were a true gentleman, great husband and loving father and grandfather. This news breaks the heart of many but heaven gains an angel."
Another added: "A good heart has stopped beating, will forever cherish your memories."
A third commented: "RIP Christy. Will miss seeing you around. Always chatting away, the road won't be the same without you."
