'Very open' - Leicester City star explains how Leeds United were exposed by Foxes

Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans has lifted the lid on the tactics that saw Leeds United fall to a 4-1 defeat against the Foxes on Monday night.

A brace from the young Belgian midfielder, as well as goals from Harvey Barnes and Jamie Vardy, secured all three points for Leicester, who moved up to second in the Premier League table as a result.

While the 23-year-old praised Leeds for being a 'very difficult' side to outperform, he revealed the plan was to hit Marcelo Bielsa's men on the counter in order to exploit spaces left by their aggressive pressing game.

"They are very open and we try to hit them on the counter-attack," he said. "It was very important to get the first goal and try to manage the game and then make a second one quickly.

"Then try to control the game even though it is very difficult and very hard because they run a lot, so we were very strong defensively. They had a couple of chances, but I felt we were very strong.

"They get an early goal in the second half and we just have to stay strong and try to not concede a second one.

"They had a good moment and then on the counter-attack, we tried to break and to score a goal to keep us a bit safer."

The result saw Leeds fall to their third defeat in seven Premier League matches. The Whites currently lie 12th in the standings and will be looking to climb back into the top half with victory on Saturday at Crystal Palace.
