'Very lucky' Grantham man hopes to play Chris Eubank Jr at 888poker event

A Grantham man has spoken about his excitement to play against professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr on the poker table.

Curtis Moore, 55, won 888poker's online event which has given him a seat ahead of this weekend's live event at Grosvenor Casino in Edgware Road.

The site manager will be battling against poker enthusiasts and professional players for a chance to sit at the final table against Eubank Jr where there will be a £10,000 bounty to knock him out - from the poker match that is, not literally.

Mr Moore said: "It's a fantastic bonus [to potentially play Eubank Jr], I mean I admire him anyway and his Dad who are very respectable people so I would love to just in my table and get on that table [with Eubank Jr].

"That would be great."

The Lincolnshire-man, who considers himself "very lucky" to be in this position, enjoyed 888poker's live event last month too, where he made his debut in a live poker setting despite playing the game for the last 20 years where his wife Jo joined him to cheer her husband on.

Curtis missed out on the money in last month's 888poker event but fancies his chances to be at the table with Chris Eubank Jr (Jo Moore)

"I did relatively well, there was about 10 minutes left on the day’s play and I was sort of short stacked and I thought ‘do you know what, if I am going to get a bit of money, I’m going to have to push a bit’.

"So I got a pair of 6s and [someone with] Ace-10 called me which he would do because he had a lot of chips and the flop was kind to me but the turn was a 10 which put me out of the match and was nearly in the next day’s play.

“I played a bit tight, I wasn’t on my normal game but it’s a little bit different when there are chips in front of you and the computer isn’t doing it for you.”

Curtis will be part of the 888poker LIVE weekend at The Grosvenor Victoria Casino which starts on Friday February 18.
