'Very easy' process can transform your patchy lawn to look green and healthy

If you have grass in your garden, then you might have found that as the summer weather continues to bring high temperatures, some of your greenery may have begun turning yellow and dry.

The warm weather can also cause your lawn to develop patchy areas, but thankfully, there is an easy hack you can try that should restore your lawn to its luscious green glory.

According to gardening experts, all you need to do is try a technique known as "overseeding", which involves sowing seed into an existing lawn with the intention of thickening the grass and growing a healthy lawn.

The experts from I Can Lawn said: "Overseeding your lawn is an effective way to thicken up your lawn coverage and create a more even and healthy look across your lawn.

"While the goal with overseeing is to achieve those things, to complete the process, there are a few little jobs that you will need to take care of along the way. Removing weeds and moss and levelling your soil are all part of the overfeeding preparation process, so it's like completing three jobs in one go."

Overseeding is a "very easy process" according to the experts, and you only need to complete a few steps to make it work.

First, you should remove any weeds or moss from your lawn, before giving the grass a quick mow and then sowing the seeds, firming it in before watering.

The experts added: "You should also make sure that you are overseeding with the right lawn seed. If you are struggling with shade, opt for a shade-tolerant seed mix. For a lawn that will withstand the daily activities of the family, try a fast-growing lawn seed mix. Or if you want a lawn that will outshine the others, try a more fine-line seed."

And it's also recommended that you feed your lawn with special lawn food that will help give your grass all of the key nutrients it needs to thrive.

"Choosing a lawn food that is fit for your purpose is a key part of the success of your feeding process. This can depend on the time of the year, but also on your wants and needs for your lawn," the experts said.

"If you are planning on some summer seeding, particularly if you are sowing a new lawn from scratch - look no further than a pre-seed lawn food. For a long-lasting summer feed, try a slow-releasing fertiliser. Designed to boost your lawn during the summer festivities and help it to come out the other side better than ever."
