'Very difficult!' - Bologna send Tottenham stern Takehiro Tomiyasu transfer message

Bologna technical director Walter Sabatini has warned Tottenham that their proposed signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu will only be completed on the Italian club's terms.

It seems only a matter of time before the Japanese international will become Spurs' new director of football Fabio Paratici's first summer signing in N17.

football.london reported near the start of July that the club had begun negotiations with the Serie A outfit and were hopeful of securing a deal for less than £20million.

Spurs' boss Nuno Espirito Santo may hope the two parties can complete a deal before the Olympic games, with Tomiyasu set to feature in this summer's edition, which will be held in his native Japan.

However, Sabatini has sent the north London club a warning, claiming that the Rossoblu will not be bullied into accepting a deal that they are not happy with.

"Bologna will have to close it, we are not yet at this stage," Sabatini told Calciomercato.

"We are still building and it is clear that Tomiyasu only moves for the evaluation that has been attributed to him by Bologna and not by those of the others, so it will be very difficult."

The 22-year-old boasts some excellent defensive numbers, registering 1.59 interceptions and 4.66 clearances per game last term, numbers that read more impressive when you consider he averaged 4.17 progressive passes per 90 minutes as well, almost double what any Spurs centre-half managed.

Tomiyasu's consistent displays last season earned him interest from a number of Europe's top clubs, with north London rivals Arsenal reportedly registering an interest in the versatile defender last week, according to Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport Italia.

Still, football.london understands that he would prefer to join Nuno Espirito Santo's side over the Gunners during the summer transfer window.
