"It's not every day you see horses run towards you," was how Canberran Caitlin Cameron described her and her young family's experience when they saw more than 20 horses charging towards them along a Kaleen road.
Ms Cameron, her partner and their two young children, aged 10 months and 2.5 years, were travelling along Baldwin Drive about 1.40pm today to see her mother when the unusual but "very cool" experience happened.
"I've never seen this happen before and I don't think I've even been that close to horses before," she said.
"We were very confused as to where they came from because it's not every day in Canberra you see this on the road."
It looks like they came from Ellenborough and through Kaleen as there was horse poo on Maribyrnong Ave.

The 22 year old, who has lived in the bush capital all of her live so far, said her two boys loved it.
"We stopped and I took a video after grabbing my phone as quickly as I could," she said.
"We did see a few other people pull over and started chasing them. I assumed they were the owners. I haven't heard how they got out."
Speaking to The Canberra Times late this afternoon, Ms Cameron said she heard the horses had been caught and were safe again.
Just before 2pm, Kathy Barker posted on social media that there were about 25 horses that have "gotten loose and are bolting".
"Last seen in Giralang on their way towards Gininderra Drive. Police are on their way," Ms Barker wrote.
"It looks like they came from Ellenborough (Street) and through Kaleen as there was horse poo on Maribyrnong Ave."
