Vernon Kay no longer presenting This Morning on Monday after catching Covid

TV presenter Vernon Kay has had to pull out of presenting This Morning On Monday after catching Covid-19.

It would have been the 47-year-old's debut presenting the ITV show.

He had been due to present it alongside Rochelle Humes for the final week of the holidays.

Unfortunately, the host will no longer be able to do so and will instead have to isolate at home.

Vernon told The Sun that he is "absolutely gutted" he won't be able to host the show.

Over the summer Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have been covering for Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield but none of the four are reportedly able to cover for Vernon at the last minute.

Vernon told The Sun: "I’m absolutely gutted that because of a positive Covid test I’m no longer able to present on This Morning next week with Rochelle nor do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows which I’ve been a fan of for decades."

Rochelle had previously opened up about her excitement at presenting This Morning alongside Vernon.

The 32-year-old said: "I’m so looking forward to hosting with the wonderful Alison Hammond again. I also can’t wait to welcome Vernon Kay into the This Morning family!"

Holly and Phil will be returning to This Morning from Monday September 6.
