Kerala: Verdict in nun rape case expected today

KOTTAYAM: The additional district and sessions court 1 here on Friday will pronounce the verdict in the nun rape case in which former bishop of Jalandhar diocese Franco Mulakkal is the accused. Judge G Gopakumar will pronounce the verdict after 11am.

There were 39 prosecution witnesses and six defence witnesses in the case and the prosecution had submitted 122 documents while the defence had submitted 56 documents before the court.

The court, through an order, has barred the media from covering the in-camera proceedings of the trial. The chargesheet in the case was filed on April 9, 2019. Mulakkal faces charges of wrongful confinement, rape, unnatural sex and criminal intimidation in the case.
