Vera was spotted in Gateshead on Wednesday as filming for the new series entered its third day.
Its star Brenda Blethyn was among the cast and crew at Gateshead Snooker Centre, on the corner of Durham Road, where location trucks were parked outside along transport for local extras.
The snooker centre, above the Low Fell Life Gym premises, was closed for the morning while Blethyn was busy shooting a scene.
Outside two location vehicles were stationed next to St George's Church while vans in the car park showed ITV Studios' Vera crew parking permits.
Work is understood to have started on Monday on the new series - the 10th - of the award-winning ITV1 crime drama which is always a huge ratings winner for ITV 1.
As it celebrates its 10th anniversary, it will see Blethyn back in action across the North East as DCI Vera Stanhope, a role she has made her own, winning best actress at the Royal Television Society North East awards.
The actress, and her fellow cast and crew, have become good friends with Whitley Bay author Ann Cleeves whose series of Vera Stanhope books inspired the Northumberland-based series.
Whenever work on a new adaptation gets under way, filming attracts enormous interest from local fans who are just as keen to spot the North East locations on-screen when the series air.
Over recent years, filming has taken place extensively around the region, extending from Northumberland to Newcastle and across Tyneside.
Wednesday's filming was set to wrap up at Gateshead Snooker Centre snooker centre by the afternoon when it was due to re-open to customers.
