Vera star Kenny Doughty has revealed that the cast and crew of the hit ITV drama have been filming in some pretty bleak conditions as they film what he previously referred to as 'special' episodes for the show.
There has been a Vera shaped hole in ITV's Sunday night schedule since the start of this year when, after just four episodes of series 11 had aired, two in autumn 2021 and two this year, the pause button was hit on Vera once again, with it making way for the return of The Good Karma Hospital and the launch of Vicky McClure thriller Trigger Point,
Fans were both mystified and annoyed by the decision to pull Vera off TV once again, knowing that there were two episodes of the current run to come, after filming on it wrapped last year. ITV are still to confirm when they will be shown, despite the fact that Vera fans in the US have already got to see them via BritBox.

Kenny, known to millions for playing Brenda Blethyn's on-screen sidekick DS Aiden Healy, had some big news for viewers last week when he said that the Vera cast had reunited for filming, taking to Twitter to write: "We are back for another special episode of Vera. Day 1 in the bag… after a little break it’s been lovely to see everyone again. Old & New faces. Vera fans you’re in for a treat!"
And, after some production had already taken place, with the Vera team spotted on set in Durham, and fans speculating on just what was being filmed, Kenny then returned to social media to provide another update, hinting that things had been made rather tough for the crew due to the awful weather in the North East on Saturday.
Posting a selfie of him and leading lay Brenda sheltering from the rain in Newcastle on Instagram he wrote: "Happy Weekend from us two. First week of filming ep 5 all done. Amazing crew battling the elements. Much deserved restful weekends all round!
One of his followers replied: "My grandaughter said to me earlier today ," when is the new series of Vera on ", hope its soon . Loved all the series," with another referencing the mystery surrounding the rest of series 11, responding: "We lost some of the last series, never got shown for some reason??!!"
