Vera actor Kenny Doughty finds 'romance' with former co-star after tragic loss

Vera actor Kenny Doughty has reportedly struck up a romance with a former co-star of his.

The 46-year-old star, who is best-known for playing DS Aiden Healy on the ITV crime drama, is said to have a new leading lady in his life.

A source claimed that Kenny is now in a relationship with Ashley Jensen, who he starred alongside in BBC One drama series Love, Lies and Records.

Scottish actress Ashley, 51, played Kate Dickenson in the 2017 show, while Kenny played Rick Severs.

According to reports, the alleged couple were pictured holding hands and laughing together after dining out at Japanese restaurant Robun in Bath last month.

The pair are thought to have grown close to each other last summer.

A source said: "Ashley and Kenny have been friends for some time, and he has been an immense support to her in the past few years.

"They make a lovely couple, and all their friends are absolutely delighted for them.

"Ashley is both a wonderful actress and person - and she deserves this second chance at happiness," the insider added to The Sun.

Ashley was left devastated in November 2017 when her husband Terence Beesley took his own life.

The couple had been married for ten years and have one son together named Francis, who was born in October 2009.

The former The Bill actor was found by Ashley in his Mercedes at the family home in Camerton, Somerset.

Ashley told the inquest the following year: “I was extremely shocked by what happened that night and I will never ever forget it.

"Terry and I had been together for 18 years but I had no idea he was capable of what he did."

The Mirror has contacted reps for both Ashley and Kenny asking for comment.
