Venkatagiri YSRC MLA says his phone is being tapped, faults govt for downsizing his security cover

TIRUPATI: The phone-tapping embarrassment continues to haunt the ruling YSR Congress party as yet another ruling party MLA has accused the government of tapping his phone for the last two years.

While a few days ago, Nellore rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy alleged that his mobile phones were being tapped by the ruling government, former finance minister and YSRC MLA from Venkatagiri has now alleged that his phones too are being tapped during the last two years.

"About two years ago during my speech at the police battalion grounds at Nellore I had alleged that mafia gangs had come to rule the district. And ever since my phones as well as my PA and gunmen mobile phones are also being tapped. Today even when I have to speak to my children and grandchildren, I'm forced to speak to them only through WhatsApp calls", the YSRC MLA lamented while speaking to reporters on Tuesday.

"I entered politics in 1983 and have contested nine times as an MLA and won six times as an MLA. I held several ministerial berths in the combined state of Andhra Pradesh including the most crucial finance portfolio. But the present state government downsized the security cover provided to me with utter disgrace without telling me a word", Anam Ramnarayana Reddy fumed.

"Venkatagiri had been under the impact of the naxal movement and is reeling under the impact of the red sanders smuggling activities now. Such being the case, how can the state government downsize my security cover without even informing me. Today I have life threats and trimming my security cover poses threat to my life as every single move of mine is being closely watched. And please place all my remarks on record", claimed the YSRC MLA.

The people of the state have seen both the TDP and the YSRC regimes and since there is some more time for the next general elections in the state, I will formally make an announcement regarding my political future at the right time, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy added.
