‘Venice once again reveals itself to be a global stage’: Jeff Bezos spotted in black tuxedo hours before tying the knot with Lauren Sánchez

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was seen leaving the Aman Hotel in Venice, Italy, on Friday, June 27, looking happy ahead of his wedding to Lauren Sánchez. The 61-year-old businessman wore a black tuxedo with a white shirt, black buttons, a vest, and a black bow tie. He also had on aviator sunglasses as he got into a water taxi.

According to People, Sánchez, 55, was also spotted leaving the hotel earlier that day. She chose to wear an all-white suit that had a retro style, along with large sunglasses and a silk head scarf. The couple is planning to get married later today, with more than 200 guests attending their wedding.

Venetian mayor Luigi Brugnaro expressed his happiness about the high-profile wedding taking place in his city. “It’s an honor that they chose Venice. Venice once again reveals itself to be a global stage,” he told The Associated Press.

Celebrity guests arrive for the special occasion

The wedding has drawn many famous faces to Venice. The guest list includes celebrities like Tom Brady, Kim Kardashian, and Kylie Jenner, two of the wealthiest members of their famous family, Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, Orlando Bloom, Usher, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Karlie Kloss.

The couple hosted a welcome party for their guests on Thursday night, June 26. The party was held in a closed area next to the Madonna dell’Orto church. Guests enjoyed pizza made by a famous Neapolitan chef, along with Italian dishes like fried zucchini flowers, arancini, octopus, and cod. For dessert, they served lemon cakes and pastries. The party ended early because of an unexpected thunderstorm.

Bezos and Sánchez hired Lanza & Baucina Limited to plan their wedding. This company is known for organizing weddings for other famous couples in Venice, including George and Amal Clooney in 2014, whose own relationship has faced recent challenges, and Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault in 2009.

Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked their guests to donate to three local charities. These include the UNESCO Venice Office, CORILA, and Venice International University. The couple wrote in their invitation that Venice has given them special memories, and they want to help preserve the city for future generations. They also showed their support for local businesses by getting about 80 percent of their wedding supplies from Venice vendors, including treats from Rosa Salva, the city’s oldest pastry maker.
