Venezuelan starlet Adalberto Penaranda has signed a new five-year contract with Watford after receiving a work permit clearing him to make his competitive debut for the club.

Penaranda signed for the Hornets back in February 2016 from Serie A side Udinese, another side owned by the Pozzo family.

But the 21-year-old but has not been able to represent his new club since then, spending time on loan at Granada and Malaga in Spain as well as back at Udinese.

Penaranda has now received all his relevant paperwork clearing him to play in England.

He has also signed new contract that will keep him at Vicarage Road until 2023.

During his time at Granada, the versatile forward broke Lionel Messi’s record as the youngest foreign player to score a brace in La Liga.

Watford are in Premier League action against Liverpool on Saturday; a game Penaranda is eligible for having been registered in the Hornets’ squad back in August.
