The Venezuelan government and opposition have sent envoys to Norway in an effort to end the crisis engulfing the country, officials confirmed to AP and Reuters Wednesday.
Why it matters: Venezuelans have suffered for weeks under crippling sanctions, as the U.S.-backed National Assembly President Juan Guaidó attempts to bring down President Nicolás Maduro. The Department of Homeland Security announced Wednesday it had suspended all commercial passenger and cargo flights between the U.S. and Venezuela because of "ongoing political instability and increased tensions."
