Venezuela crisis: Guaidó calls for crippling strikes in bid to oust Maduro

Venezuelan National Assembly President Juan Guaidó called for nationwide, crippling strikes Thursday and for more mass demonstrations, as clashes with Maduro regime forces continued into the night.

Details: Guaidó told Fox Business Network’s "Trish Regan Primetime" Wednesday evening he's "very close" to his goal of toppling President Nicolás Maduro. After days of street clashes across Venezuela, host Trish Regan asked Guaidó about concerns the escalating violence could lead to civil war. He said through a translator Venezuela was not polarized and "between 91 and 95 percent of our population wants change."


"[A]s long as we are mobilized and united, we are very close to achieving our freedom.  I would like to tell you a specific date or a specific time, but we are working on these transitional and rebuilding processes of democracy.  They have always taken time, but we have the support of the international community, the support of our constitution and the people, we are close to achieving this goal ..."
