Venezuela 0-2 Argentina: Lionel Messi and co set up blockbuster semi-final against Brazil

Argentina face a mouth-watering Copa America semi-final against arch rivals Brazil after overcoming Venezuela 2-0 in their last-eight match at the Maracana.

Lionel Messi's side were once again not pretty on the eye, but did just about enough to see off a poor Venezuela team.

Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez opened the scoring after ten minutes with a beautiful backheeled flick from Sergio Aguero's drilled cross.

Martinez should have doubled the lead just after half-time but he smashed a shot against the outside of the post when put through one-on-one.

Tottenham target Giovani Lo Celso ended the game as a contest when he tapped in after Aguero's shot was too hot to handle for Venezuela 'keeper Wuilker Farinez.

Messi, meanwhile, was kept quiet for most of the game, and is still failing to show the same blistering form as he does on a regular basis in a Barcelona shirt.

Argentina will take on Brazil on Wednesday in the Mineirao in Belo Horizonte, the same stadium where Brazil suffered their infamous 7-1 humbling to Germany in World Cup 2014.
