A 29-year-old grilled chicken vendor yesterday called on the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) to speed up investigations after he and his wife were assaulted by a group of teenagers on Jan 23, leaving him badly injured.
Ball Thongkaew said he lodged a complaint with Bang Sao Thong police shortly after he and his wife were beaten up.
Mr Ball said police later called to inform him that two of the suspects had surrendered and had been charged with assault causing serious injury.
The suspects offered compensation of 50,000 baht in exchange for Mr Ball dropping the attempted murder charge which he declined.
Mr Ball said he also wanted the police to go after the other suspects who are still at large.
"I worry that the suspects might be working for some influential people because the incident happened almost a month ago and the police still haven't managed to capture them," he said.
Mr Ball said he was heading on his motorcycle -- with his wife riding pillion -- to buy some parts for his motorcycle when he was cut in front of by another motorcycle.
"The guy on the back then turned around and looked at me, so I asked him 'What are you looking at?'. Then the two of them stopped the bike and walked towards me and my wife as other friends of theirs parked their bikes beside us," Mr Ball said.
"They came at us with all sort of weapons, cutting my arms, back, legs and face. I couldn't fight them off so I started running away before being rescued by a group of locals and sent to Petchkasem Hospital nearby," he said.
He said he had wounds to his chin, back, chest and leg requiring more than 70 stitches.
