Veincentre on track for 2021 target as latest clinic opens

Varicose vein treatment specialist Veincentre has opened another new clinic – just two months after the last.

The Stoke-on-Trent business has set up a new site in New Park Street, Cambridge, and created five new jobs.

The new clinic is part of the company’s ambitious growth plans to have 15 clinics by the end of this year.

It also follows a ‘record number’ of enquiries from patients during the pandemic, particularly from people who have been in discomfort with their legs and are on their feet for long periods of time, or those who have by hiding their legs and want to tackle their problem before the restrictions ease in the summer.

Dr Tariq Ali, consultant interventional radiologist at Veincentre Cambridge, said: “We’re delighted to open a clinic here in Cambridge so that patients will no longer need to leave the city to receive this specialist laser treatment.

“It is not widely known but Varicose veins affect 30 per cent of the population. They cause both cosmetic and symptomatic distress to patients and if left untreated can result in venous ulcers and varicose eczema. The team have all been working extremely hard to get us up and running during lockdown and we’re looking forward to welcoming our patients to our new state of the art clinic.”

Veincentre was founded in 2003 by vascular specialist Dr David West and his wife Deborah.

Originally operating from their family home in Ashley, Staffordshire, the company has grown into the UK’s leading specialist in varicose veins treatment.

It currently has 12 clinics across the UK including its flagship clinic in Stoke-on-Trent and a site in Cardiff which opened in January.
