String of vehicle thefts continues in Englewood, Park Manor: police

Police are warning South Side residents of a continuing rash of vehicle thefts in Park Manor and Englewood.

In some thefts, victims still had possession of the vehicle’s keys, while in others the vehicle was left running, according to an updated community alert from Chicago police.

Police on July 11 initially warned of four thefts, but sent out a revised alert Sunday with three more reported thefts.

They happened:

  • between 10 p.m. June 4 and 9 p.m. June 6 in the first block of West 71st Street;
  • about 9:30 p.m. June 12 in the 7100 block of South Lafayette Avenue;
  • about 8:30 p.m. June 18 in the 7100 block of South Vincennes Avenue;
  • about 11:15 a.m. July 3 in the 7300 block of south Yale Avenue;
  • about 8:50 a.m. July 7 in the 7100 block of South Vincennes Avenue;
  • about 2:30 a.m. July 12 in the 7400 block of South Perry Avenue; and
  • about 7:15 p.m. July 21 in the 7300 block of South Perry Avenue.

Police said they were looking for multiple suspects.
