Vehicle tail lift maker wins contract with gas giant BOC

Commercial vehicle business Access XL has won a six-figure contract with industrial gas firm BOC to supply vehicle tail lifts.

The award marks the Scottish manufacturer's largest contract since re-entering the commercial tail lift market in 2018.

Haulage firm Xs Transport moves to 250,000 sq ft site

Access XL will manufacture and deliver 33 vehicle tail lifts to BOC’s fleet of commercial vehicles.

The contract win comes on the back of similar contracts with a major distribution company and a multinational dairy producer.

Access XL has designed, manufactured and delivered 180 patient lifts to London Ambulance Service over the last 18 months.

Their lifts are used throughout the UK, Ireland, the Americas and the Middle East as well as by the British Armed Forces.

Working with parent company, XL Group, Access XL has adapted technologies primarily used for the process industry to create a leading edge system.

The new system provides auto-tilting, load monitoring, and smart lift operations which allows the lift functions to be modified without the need for control board re-engineering or rewiring.

Access XL general manager Farid Arvani said: “Our in-house engineering and manufacturing capabilities enable us to custom design and build bespoke mechanical, hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems.

“Our new technology provides the most reliable operation, ease of maintenance and quick diagnostics.

“Having the ability to change the operational direction of the lift within seconds, will save our customers both time and money.

“The most recent commercial vehicle contract wins have been the result of collaborative engineering with our clients to deliver their exact requirements.”

Access XL has its manufacturing plant in Forfar where it employs 30 people.

The global multi-discipline engineering and technology group, which is projected to deliver a turnover of around £22 million this year employs 95 people in five locations.

Menzies Distribution signs deal to become Britain and Ireland's biggest magazine haulage firm

Headquartered in Aberdeen, with operations throughout the UK and in St John’s, Canada, XL Group operates globally across Europe, South America, North America, Asia, Middle-east and Africa.

It offers turnkey solutions for oil and gas, energy, LNG, decommissioning, manufacturing, distilleries, education, healthcare and utilities markets.
