Vehicle stop uncovers around £60,000 in cash

The Roads Policing Unit of Merseyside Police used pre-emptive tactics in stopping a vehicle in Liverpool suspected of being used in crime.

The vehicle was stopped by officers on Friday night (August 20), and a search of the vehicle recovered a significant quantity of cash.

Police officers tweeted later following their discovery: "We’ve not had chance to count it yet, but believed to be in excess of £60,000."

The female driver of the vehicle was arrested as a result of the police action.

Members of the public should telephone the police on 999 if they see a crime being committed. Otherwise they are urged to call the non-emergency number 101.
