Vehicle exports increased 5.2% in April, year-on-year, the sixth consecutive month of steady growth for the sector, according to the Federation of Thai Industries.
Deputy FTI president Surapong Paisitpatanapong said that in April exporters shipped out 72,571 vehicles, expanding sales in all markets except Asia and Australia, InfoQuest news centre reported.
It was the sixth consecutive month that vehicle exports have risen. However, export value was only 36 billion baht, a decrease of 3.9% on last April.
In total, 367,801 vehicles were exported from January to April, a 4.1% increase on the same period last year.
Domestic sales were also stronger, with 79,206 cars sold in April, thanks to the Bangkok International Motor Show, according to Mr Surapong.
These figures reflected an "increase of up to 25.2%" from last April, he said.
