One person was injured when a vehicle crashed into a house Saturday in west suburban Naperville.

The vehicle ran off the road at 3:23 p.m. and hit the rear of a two-story home in the 800 block of Edgewater Drive, according to a statement from the Naperville Fire Department.

When emergency responders arrived, the vehicle was on fire and the driver was unresponsive inside, fire officials said. A police officer was able to break the window with a baton and pull the driver out with the help of a bystander.

The person, whose age and gender were not released, was taken to Edward Hospital in Naperville and stabilized, authorities said. It was not immediately clear what caused the vehicle to leave the road.

The fire was extinguished and did not spread to the home, the fire department said. The house was inspected and deemed to be habitable despite the damage caused by the crash.

No residents were home at the time and no other injuries were reported, officials said.
