A vehicle conversion specialist has invested £1 million in a workshop extension, which is also ready for work on the next generation of electric vehicles.
Bott, which has more than 80 years experience in the sector, has added a 13,000 sq ft extension to its main vehicle conversion facilities in Ashby de la Zouch, north west Leicestershire.
The workshop provides up to 25 additional conversion bays, giving more than 80 flexible spaces on the site.
The new building includes three bays suitable for work on alternative fuel vehicles, while the whole extension can be separated off – enabling the Bott team to convert larger batches of e-vans in a segregated area.
A spokesman said: “With the commercial vehicle sector in a period of significant change, Bott has recognised the need to prepare for evolving customer requirements and invested in a new, flexible workspace at Ashby which in future can be designated entirely to hybrid and e-vehicle conversions.”
In recent months the business has added 50 new members to its team to meet growing demand.
Accounts for 2018 showed turnover for the whole business up from £45.3 million to £48.5 million, with pre-tax profits at £4.7 million.
The new building was opened by managing director Kevin Woodward.
He said: “I am delighted with this additional investment in our Ashby site.
“It will enable Bott to maintain the flexibility required to deliver changing customers’ needs, including for EVs and future vehicle solutions.”
Bott works within the UK, Europe and across the world converting vehicles to various industry specifications.
It employees around 450 people in the UK, including more than 250 at its Ashby site.
