Veggies excited by Burger King's bleeding 'Impossible' Whopper should read the small print

If something sounds too good to be true, then that normally means it is.

Sadly, for strict vegetarians and vegans, Burger King's bleeding 'Impossible' Whopper seems to fall into this category.

The new menu item was touted as a tasty alternative to meat and while it's not been officially billed as a vegetarian burger it IS advertised as being '0% beef' and 'made from plants', with its main ingredients comprising of soy and potato proteins.

But a closer look at the small print may bring disappointment to those who've sworn off all animal-derived products.

This states that the Whopper is flame-grilled in the same broiler used for beef and chicken, so it's highly likely it will have been in contact with meat.

One former employee backed this up in a tweet which said that the in-restaurant production line means that 'veggie burgers get soaked in meat juices'.

Once this was revelation was made, other vegetarians were quick to express their disappointment.

This news comes hot on the heels of it being revealed that Burger King's halloumi burger is also not as vegetarian-friendly as many had hoped.

Despite not containing any meat and being made with a type of halloumi that uses vegetarian rennet, the burger is cooked in the same oil as chicken and fish.

Burger King have been very careful in pointing out that these have not been advertised as vegetarian, but instead they used the term "meat-free" on promotional materials.
