Vegas Watch: Lions -6.5 point underdogs in Week 3 at Eagles

According to BetMGM, The Detroit Lions (1-0-1) are -6.5 point underdogs as they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles (1-1). Despite the Lions beating a tough Chargers team and the Eagles coming off a loss — and almost losing in Week 1 — the home team is heavily favored.

BetMGM has a lot of various bet lines to wager on in this game, but here’s a look the basic concepts most would be interested in, including the Moneyline, points spread, over/under, and Lions Wire editor’s thoughts.

Moneyline

Eagles -278

Lions +220

Spread

Eagles -6.5 (-106)

Lions +6.5 (-115)

Over/Under

Over 45.5 (-106)

Under 45.5 (-115)

Lions Wire editor’s thoughts

Both Lions Wire editors picked the Eagles to win, but the Lions to cover.

Jeff Risdon made his prediction in his Week 3 Football Meteorology article at RealGM, calling for Eagles 27-25 victory.

“The Eagles should be expected to win this one, but all their injuries are a real cloud in an otherwise bright sky. Things are not sunny in Philadelphia with both starting WRs likely out and several other important players banged up enough the Eagles canceled practice on Wednesday for preservation purposes. Meanwhile the unbeaten Lions are at almost full strength with LT Taylor Decker appearing good to go. The Lions win if Matthew Stafford gets time to take shots and if the slumbering Detroit pass rush wakes up. I think one of those will happen, but I can’t bet on both. Should be a close game.”

On the latest episode of the Detroit Lions Breakdown podcast, Erik Schlitt called for a tight game and reluctantly settled on an Eagles 24-21 win.

This matches his pre-regular season game-by-game predictions, where he said, “The Eagles offensive line vs the Lions defensive line will be worth the price of admission in this game. Philadelphia is a tough environment to play in and this one should be closer than most will expect, but this could be a game where the Lions falter.”
