Veganuary 2023: The Bristol pizza places with delicious vegan options

A vegan diet doesn't always mean living off of fruit, vegetables, nuts and seeds - there are so many options out there these days for people still looking for an exciting meal without having to eat meat or dairy.

Pizza is definitely a dish that has now been mastered by chefs offering a suitable plant-based alternative. Vegan cheese is now widely available in most restaurants and cafes meaning pizza lovers don't have to miss out on a proper pizza if you're looking to dine out or order a takeaway.

Bristol is in no short supply of vegan pizza restaurants and takeaways. Here are several restaurants that are either totally vegan or offer strong vegan options for pizza:

Pizzarova

The successful Bristol pizza chain has a staggering six vegan specials for Veganuary, including Margarita (£6.95), Vegan 'Nduja (£11.50) and Buffalo Cauliflower (£13.50) to name a few. You can choose from one of six locations around Bristol for dine-in and collection or check your delivery app of choice for a takeaway.

Mission Pizza (Left Handed Giant)

If you're passionate about pairing a good beer with your pizza, then Left Handed Giant is a must. Mission Pizza run the kitchen of the Finzels Reach brewpub with a fully vegetarian menu that can be adapted to make almost all of the pizzas vegan. Prices start from £11 for a marinara pizza stretching up to £14 for the 'Shroomie'.

Purezza

For those looking for a totally vegan environment, you'll want to give Purezza Bristol a try. The pizzas range from as little as £6.50 up to £12.50 with exciting plant-based topping such as vegan tuna and meat-free meatballs. The restaurant offers a small plates menu where you can purchase three dishes for £18. Purezza is available for delivery.

Bertha's

The Wapping Wharf restaurant offers two vegan options but can adapt its other dishes with a £3 supplement for dairy-free mozzarella. Bertha's offers a whole host of other snacks and a brilliant cocktail menu for diners, as well as a delivery service for those ordering in.

Cider fans assemble! This restaurant not only has a far-reaching cider menu but also incredible pizza options. There are four pizza options starting from £10.50 The Bristol Stable prides itself on making fresh sourdough every morning using organic grains from Shipton Mill in Gloucestershire.

This stylish pizza-orientated restaurant in the city centre has a few options to whet your appetite. There are a couple of starters and pasta dishes, too, if pizza isn't your thing, serving up local ingredients wherever the restaurant can.

Taste of Napoli

Neapolitans are the true masters of pizza so you're in good hands at Broadmead cafe Taste of Napoli. The chefs have created a specialised plant-based menu with five options that are budget-friendly, starting with £3.50 for a margarita up to their mushroom pizza with vegan sausage for £5 each. Taste of Napoli is also available for delivery from Deliveroo or UberEats.

Pizza Workshop

Entering its eighth year in 2023, Pizza Workshop knows how to make a great sourdough pizza. You can swap its classic fior di latte mozzarella for their vegan cheese at no extra cost. It has two sites, one on North Street and another on Whiteladies Road. Available for collection and delivery.

Beerd

This is another destination for those who love craft beer and delicious pizza. Beerd, open seven days a week, has a great choice of sides alongside a great range of local beers and ciders to wash down your meal with.
