Vegan milk brand Oatly recalls product amid concerns it contains metal pieces

Oatly, the vegan milk brand, is recalling one is its products after concerns that it could contain metal pieces.

The manufacturer said blue one litre packs of Oatly Oat Drink Whole with a best before date of 29 April 2019 are the only product affected.

The milk substitute is only sold at Tesco, Edinburgh Live reported

The Food Standards Agency said the potential presence of metal make the product "unsafe to drink and presents a safety risk".

The agency urged anyone who finds they have the product to "return it to the store" and "do not drink it".

Oatly said: "As a precaution we're doing a recall of an isolated batch of Oatly chilled Oat Drink whole that might contain metal pieces from a broken machine part.

"The risk is very small but we always put safety first and want to make sure we eliminate any risk.

"No further stock was impacted on the affected production line, or any of our other products."
