Vegan KitKats are launching in the UK this year - and chocolate fans can't wait

If you took part in Veganuary and are continuing with a plant-based diet, then we have some great news.

Chocolate giant Nestlé has announced that it is launching a vegan KitKat this year.

Earlier this month we discovered that the KitKat Zebra bar, which is made with dark and white chocolate, has landed at stores across the UK.

Now, chocolate fans can get excited once again as Nestlé has confirmed the release of a new plant-based KitKat.

The new 'KitKat V' bar will be available later this year in a number of countries around the globe.

There has been no word on the ingredients used to create the plant-based offering, but Nestlé has confirmed it is made from 100% sustainable cocoa.

The company also said it will deliver the same “perfect balance between crispy wafer and smooth chocolate that people know and love”.

As the research on the new plant-based KitKat was done in York, it will definitely be available in the UK. Hooray!

However, the KitKat V won't be landing at your local store any time soon, as it will be initially rolled out through Nestle’s boutique KitKat Chocolatory stores.

Alexander von Maillot, Head of Confectionery at Nestlé, said: "One of the most common requests we see on social media is for a vegan KitKat, so we’re delighted to be able to make that wish come true.

"I can’t wait for people to be able to try this amazingly tasty new KitKat. This is a product for everyone who wants a little more plant-based in their life!"

Many social media users have been taking to Instagram to say they 'can't wait' to try the new KitKat V bar.

Commenting on Nestlé's recent post, one person said: "Cannot wait for this."

Another wrote: "Thank you soo much I’m crying."

And a third added: "Thank you. I’m #dairyfree and have always missed KitKats."

If you're a fan of the original KitKat, you can stock up with a large pack of 21 two-finger bars for just £2.89 at Tesco.

Meanwhile, Cadbury has announced that Twirl Orange will be back for good - and chocoholics are delighted.
