Vegan food Ireland: €3.50 burger made of mushrooms for sale in Ireland

A new vegan burger made of mushrooms is for sale in Ireland for €3.50.

More shops and high-street chains are offering 100% plant burgers to cater to some people going meat-free.

The plant-based sector is one of the fastest-growing areas of the Irish food industry at the moment.

The Mighty Mushroom Company in Co Monaghan is launching its first range of meat-free Burgers and Cumberland Style Sausages.

The burger contains up to 85% mushrooms, which are grown on sustainable Irish farms.

It has fibre, vitamins and contains less than 150 calories per portion.

The 40-year-old family-owned business, who are expert mushroom growers and use local mushrooms grown on their farms to develop this new recipe, came up with the recipe.

The range also includes Mighty Mushroom Meat-Free Mince which contains 85% mushrooms.

It contains no soya, is gluten-free, using only natural ingredients, with no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives.

The Mighty Mushrooms Co Burgers and Cumberland Sausages are also for sale on Amazon or in Eurospar stores across the country.

The company was founded in the 1980s when Ronnie Wilson gave up teaching.

Now his son Paul Wilson is leading the company and their 3,000 workers.
