'Veep' star from Chicago tried to show IMDb page to airport security

May 04--It seems there are members of the Transportation Security Administration who don't watch "Veep."

Matt Walsh, who plays the White House press secretary on the HBO comedy, said he found himself in a difficult situation recently when he tried to board a plane after forgetting his ID.

"I tried to pull up my IMDb page because I have a little bit of celebrity," Walsh, who grew up on the South Side and in Downers Grove, said on Tuesday's episode of "The Late Late Show with James Corden." "(The TSA agent) was like, 'Sir, don't show me anything unless I ask for it.'"

Walsh, who attended Northern Illinois University and trained at the iO Theater, said he begged and pleaded to be let through security. Walsh, 51, said he appreciated the effort despite the annoyance.

"It felt like an international border. I love that (the TSA agent) was so military about it," Walsh said.

Susan Sarandon, who was also a guest on "The Late Late Show," shared her stories about dealing with airport security during former President George W. Bush's administration.

"The Late Late Show" airs 11:37 p.m. weeknights on CBS. "Veep" airs 9:30 p.m. Sundays.
