
The Queen has addressed the nation to mark the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, saying veterans would have recognised the "love and care" of people during the coronavirus pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge heard WWII stories in a video call to Second World War veterans, who spoke about their VE Day memories.
It comes as Katherine Jenkins performed wartime favourites in a special closed-door concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall while people across the UK went out on their doorsteps to raise a glass in a nationwide toast at 3pm.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson earlier paid tribute to the "heroism of countless ordinary people" while the RAF Red Arrows took to the skies to perform a spectacular fly past, flying over Westminster at 10.10am
