VD Sharma completes 2 years as state BJP chief

BHOPAL: State BJP president VD Sharma on Tuesday completed two years in office and rushed to New Delhi to meet the party’s central leadership.

The party office said that Sharma will appraise the central leadership on organisational work completed in the last two years.

Sharma was appointed state BJP chief on February 15, 2020 when the Congress was in power here. A month after his appointment, the party returned to power with Shivraj Singh Chouhan as the chief minister.

According to state BJP secretary Rajneesh Agarwal, Sharma came in as a young state party president, who utilised his energy to train workers.

“One of his chief achievements is strengthening of the mandals and booths, digitalisation and verification of booths. During the pandemic, he guided party workers on how to help people in need of basic requirements,” Agarwal said.

Sources in the party said that Sharma will appraise the central leadership on Booth Vistarak, expansion of booths campaign with a target to increase votes in favour of the BJP and the ongoing Samarpan Nidhi Abhiyan to collect funds for party . State BJP’s target is to collect Rs 150 crore from donations.

“We have been winning elections after Sharma took charge of the state unit,” said state party general secretary Bhagwandas Sabnani.

“The day he joined, we won the Mandsaur municipality elections and thereafter, the assembly bypolls and Khandwa Lok Sabha bypoll.”
