VCA elections likely to be unanimous this time as well

NAGPUR: With the tenure of the most successful executive committee of Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) soon coming to an end, the association is all set for annual general meeting (AGM) and elections on December 4 and 5.

According to the letter written to the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), the association wanted permission for holding the AGM as per the Covid protocol. "We have granted VCA the permission," informed NMC official.

The VCA is expecting attendance of only 175 to 200 members from total 1200 members. "As per our experience, not more than 200 members attend the AGM and we have been having unanimous elections since last many years," the VCA has stated in the letter written on October 21.

"This year also, the association is likely to see someone close to the former ICC president Shashank Manohar's family replacing the incumbent president Anand Jaiswal who is also close to Manohar," said reliable sources.

Jaiswal took the charge in 2016. He along with vice president Prashant Vaidya changed the dynamics of the Vidarbha cricket. Vidarbha have won all the BCCI trophies so far including two Ranji Trophy titles in their tenure.

Incumbent office bearers: Anand Jaiswal (president), Prashant Vaidya (vice president), Parimal Vaidya (secretary), Murali Pantula (treasurer), Hemant Gandhi (joint secretary).
