Vauxhall Mokka shows the shape of things to come

VAUXHALL design chief Mark Adams says the new Mokka compact crossover has the visual DNA for the brand’s future models.

A key part of the Mokka styling is the Vizor – a dark band that runs across the front, encasing the LED headlights and new Griffin logo. LED tail lamps mirror the front daytime light signature wing design and a stretched nameplate emphasises the car’s the width.

Adam described the Mokka as having “bold, pure, dynamic and very modern looks”, which includes the interior. The cabin features a full digital interface for the instrument cluster and infotainment screen, but still has buttons for quick access to the likes of heating.

He said the firm avoided marking out the all-electric Mokka-e with quirky EV styling because research showed customers just wanted good-looking cars with great technology, regardless of the powertrain.

Looking ahead, Adam said the new Astra would take a leap forward in tech and perceived quality, with DNA from the Mokka. And he said Vauxhall was very excited about its plans for the Insignia.

The new Mokka, available in seven trims with a choice of petrol and diesel engines, is on sale now priced from £20,735. The Mokka-e, with four specs, starts from £30,540 on the road after the plug-in grant. Go to www.vauxhall.co.uk to find out more.
