Vasilis Barkas gets Celtic boost as poor form doesn't stop Greek accolade

Celtic flop Vasilis Barkas has been named as the second best goalkeeper in Greek football.

Barkas has struggled since moving to Celtic Park in a £5million summer move with Neil Lennon preferring Scott Bain in goals.

Conor Hazard has also been used instead of him at times and he’s failed to save a single shot in the games he’s played in 2021.

But he’s clearly still well liked in his homeland as his fellow players made him runner up in the best goalkeeper category of the Greek awards.

He finished behind Olympiacos stopper Jose Sa, who said: “This is a magnificent honour for me especially since I won it ahead of some great goalkeepers too.

"It's the result of a lot of hard work that has gone into my game."

Barkas has made 20 appearances for Celtic since moving in the summer but been heavily criticised for his performances.

He made errors in games against Rangers as well as in European competition.

He last played for the club in a 2-2 draw with Livingston in January.
