Indore: DAVV may allow dual degree to attract international students

INDORE: In a bid to attract more students from across the globe, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya is now planning to incorporate Dual degree, Twin degrees and Joint degrees for undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

Now that the only A+ National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) graded varsity is aiming to get an A++ in the forthcoming NAAC cycle, DAVV has been focusing on its weaknesses.

“In accordance to the National Education Policy (NEP), there are many reforms that the varsity has been planning on to implement and attracting international students is one of the primary focuses,” vice chancellor of DAVV, Dr Renu Jain told TOI.

At present, the registration have been ongoing for Central University Entrance Test (CUET) and Non-CET courses, as soon as the admission process is completed the varsity will certainly focus on implementation of different types of degrees and collaboration with global Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) too, she added.

In Joint Degree programme, the varsity will run degree programmes will a foreign varsity and the candidates will have to score a minimum of 30 each credit from both the varsities in order to pass the degree and the student will a Common degree with names of both institutions written on it.

Whereas the Twin degree programme will be more of a student exchange programme and candidates will get to do 30 per cent of the course from the foreign university which is collaborating with DAVV.

In the dual degree programme, two separate degrees will be issued by the two varsities in collaboration, media spokesperson of DAVV, Dr Chandan Gupta told TOI. “The varsity has been held up with the admission process at the moment. However, as soon as the process gets completed, DAVV will make a roadmap for the international collaborations with other varsities,” he added.
