Varsity High School Football Devs Working on Custom Team Sharing, Lead Passing and More

Spear Interactive shared their most recent development update for Varsity High School Football, highlighting progress on team customization, gameplay improvements and early feedback from playtesters.

Team customization is starting to take shape. A working prototype now allows players to upload and share team branding, rosters and data. Everything syncs to a server where teams can be browsed and downloaded directly in-game. The team is aiming to build out the public UI this summer to make the process more streamlined for upcoming playtests.

On the field, over 100 player movement animations have been cleaned up, improving how players run, turn and move overall. Lead passing has also been added, allowing quarterbacks to throw receivers open in tight coverage. More motion capture sessions are planned this month to polish throws and catches as the team prepares for a 7-on-7 mode playtest.

Those looking to jump in early and get in on playtests can support the project via Patreon or just wait it out and wishlist it on Steam for future updates. Varsity High School Football is set to release on PC, Xbox and PlayStation, though there’s no official launch date just yet.
