Spear Interactive has shared a new development update for Varsity High School Football, highlighting recent progress on gameplay, animation and customization features.
This month the team focused on tightening up the core football experience with better pocket movement, smoother shotgun pre-snap motion and more accurate throws at every range. New motion capture sessions with quarterbacks, wide receivers and defensive backs helped improve catch-in-place animations and overall transitions, all part of the ongoing effort to make gameplay feel more realistic and responsive.
Customization is coming along nicely too. The jersey builder has been upgraded, giving players more control over things like stitching colors, stripe patterns and chest logo placement. On the stadium side, the creation tools are expanding, allowing fans to be able to set up stands, press boxes, scoreboards, tracks and add objects around the field to build out their own game-day setup.
As for what’s next, Playtest #8 is on the way. It’ll feature QB Mini Camp Mode, a server test for Community File Share, Dynasty Sim Seasons, weekly player awards and updates to coach schemes and tendencies.
Patreon signups for the upcoming playtest are open through July, with invites going out on August 1. While Varsity High School Football is planned for Xbox and PlayStation, current playtesting is limited to PC via Steam.
