Spear Interactive has released a new development update for Varsity High School Football, outlining progress on several key features including enhancements to Dynasty mode, gameplay improvements and a roadmap for upcoming playtests.
The update highlights new presentation elements, deeper weather integration and continued work on core systems as the game moves closer to offering a more complete high school football experience.
Dynasty games will now include Homecoming and Senior Night themes, bringing more variety to the season. Weather also plays a bigger role, matching conditions to your state and time of year. A new slider lets players control how much the weather affects the action, from no impact at all to every single tackle causing a fumble.
On the gameplay side, a new “Play Now” option is being built this month, making it easier to pick teams right from the main menu. A full 7-on-7 playtest is set to arrive this winter for Patreon supporters, while the core focus stays on 11-on-11 football. Line play and tackling are still being developed and defensive back logic continues to improve, giving coverages and decisions a more authentic feel.
Those interested in joining the playtest can sign up and back the project through Patreon. While the full release is planned for Xbox and PlayStation, testing is currently limited to PC on Steam.
