Variety is the spice of classic car life at latest sale

THE world of classic cars keeps on giving, with some crackers coming up for auction – all at the more affordable end of the market.

Top of the price-tree for the latest Manor Park Classics sale are two performance Fords that embodied the company’s rally and touring car success better than any others – an Escort RS Mexico and a Sierra Cosworth.

The 1987 Cosworth, originally supplied to BTCC team boss Ruedi Eggenbuerger is being offered with an estimated sale price topping out at £50,000.

Meanwhile, the rare 1978 Mexico has just undergone an extensive restoration but is set to fetch up to £45,000.

The Ford-fest doesn’t end there, as a refreshed 1937 Model 78 with a 3.4-litre V8 is also on offer – with a value of about £14,000, or you could go for a 1966 Mustang Notchback for similar cash.

Other highlights include a 1967 Rolls-Royce Shadow (estimated at up to £28,000), that was kept by its first owner for 50 years and has covered only 34,000 miles.

Then there is a powerful 1954 Mercedes-Benz 300B Adenauer Saloon likely to go for about £40,000 and a 1967 Jaguar S-Type 3.4 sports saloon with a tag of around £20,000.

The sale will take place at Manor Park Classic’s 30,000sq ft HQ in Runcorn, Cheshire, on September 22.
