Varanasi district court turns down Vaidik Sangh chief’s plea against Anjuman Intezamia Masajid

VARANASI: The district court dismissed a criminal review petition seeking direction to file an FIR against the Anjuman Intezamia Masajid (AIM) committee members for alleged efforts to damage the basic structure of 'Lord Visheshwar Temple' in the Gyanvapi premises.

The petition, filed by Vishwa Vaidik Sanatan Sangh (VVSS) chief Jitendra Singh ‘Visen’ on June 14, was dismissed by district judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha on June 27.

In his order, the judge said that the applicant had not explicitly mentioned any fact on the basis of which any cognizable offence appears to have been committed. He said that the lower court had made no mistake in rejecting the application.

Earlier, this petition was rejected by the court of the special chief judicial magistrate. The AIM manages the affairs of Gyanvapi mosque.
